The Suffolk-born brand aims to raise £500,000-£1m via a campaign with Crowdcube.
13th February 2024:
Suffolk-based, non-alcoholic brand, L.A Brewery (labrewery.co.uk) has today announced a crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube as it seeks to meet the demand for alcohol-free alternatives. L.A Brewery is on the menu at Dishoom, Hawksmoor, Hakkasan, Leon, itsu and Nando's, amongst other leading independents. The B-Corp brand makes uplifting drinks using fermentation to create flavour, with real ingredients including white tea, rhubarb, rose petals and hop flowers.
Its unique range meets growing consumer and retailer demand for sober and sober curious trends, with the raise coming at a pivotal growth time for the category. Almost nine million people gave up alcohol for Dry January. The raise also follows customer research from L.A Brewery which found that over a third (34%) of Brits now claim to abstain from alcohol completely, and a quarter (25%) identify themselves as sober curious.
The brand plans to use the funds for upweighted digital marketing for e-commerce customer acquisition, as well as capacity investment in the company's Suffolk Brewery which will drive production efficiencies and accelerate new product launches.
L.A Brewery believes that the cash injection will enable it to reach more customers than ever before, challenging the market's dominant players and growing its share of the £255 million low and no category. L.A Brewery previously conducted a crowdfund in 2021, also with Crowdcube. Last year, revenues increased by 88% and similar growth is forecast for the year ahead.
Louise Avery, Founder of L.A Brewery said: "Our first crowdfund enabled us to unlock our potential, allowing us to invest in a lifestyle brand that has gone from strength to strength. This second raise comes at a time when the no and low industry is booming. We have an exciting 2024 ahead of us."
The crowdfunding news comes at a crucial time as L.A Brewery expands, having just welcomed its new Managing Director, Meg Ellis, in September 2023.
Meg has 20 years of experience in brand growth and commercial leadership roles for a reputable collection of retail, hospitality, leisure & lifestyle businesses. As a board member at Honest Burgers, she helped to build the restaurant estate to 45 sites. Meg joins founder investors and Board members Mark Palmer and William Kendall, who have a wealth of food and drink experience, leading the charge on brands including Green & Black's and Cawston Press.
